Funerals Can Be Murder: Every Wife Has a Story (A Carol and Jim Andrews Baby Boomer Mystery) by Susan Santangelo is a perfectly wonderful book. Carol Andrews is wife, mother and part time sleuth. Jim is her husband, who tries very hard to stop her involvement in solving crimes, though rather unsuccessfully. Will Finnegan owns Rakes and is the local landscaper. When Will dies unexpectedly, the excitement is just beginning. At the wake, he is found with a pair of scissors in his chest. The police are called and so starts an investigation of his double death. Carol could not contain her curiosity and begins a quest to find out who would want handsome Will dead. She finds a way to meet Will’s wife, his many girlfriends and, against her husband and police detective son-in-law's advice, works the case as if she were Agatha Christie herself. Carol never stops trying to find the murderer and lands up in several unusual situations.

Funerals Can Be Murder is a fun and lighthearted mystery. If you are a baby boomer, you will see yourself somewhere in the story. But, Susan Santangelo has written this book in a way that will be enjoyable for all ages, young and old. This is the fifth book in the series and while I have never read the first four (though I plan to get them all and read them as soon as possible), it was a great stand alone story. I really enjoyed Funerals Can Be Murder and Susan Santangelo has quickly jumped to the top of my favorite author list. I highly recommend Funerals Can Be Murder to all murder mystery fans.
