The story begins with Jace and his best friend, Rocco, looking forward to their Christmas holidays which are just next week in Jace’s Adventure at Children’s Hospital by D.W. Harper. Rocco has asked for a Deluxe Magic Kit so that he can do all sorts of tricks, and he thinks he can do magic for the yearly celebration of the school talent show. Jace has asked for a portable ice-skating rink so that he can set it up in the backyard during winter. Jace notices that Rocco is drinking a lot of water in class and he is worried that Rocco will fall sick during the holidays. Rocco is taken to the hospital and he is diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, which is also known as juvenile diabetes. Jace decides to help his friend while he is going through the disease, and is happy to see him be the winner of the magic show at the school talent show.

The story throws light on juvenile diabetes and gives readers an idea about the disease, the symptoms, the precautions that need to be taken, and the cure. The author does a wonderful job of explaining the disease through the story of Jace and Rocco. It is an excellent storybook for tutors, educators, counselors, and parents to read out or gift to children as it helps them understand about Type 1 Diabetes without much difficulty. The story is also about friendship. Jace’s concern for Rocco’s health and his support are palpable and stand out in the story.
