Shadow State is a political thriller by Frank Sennett. Rafe stopped the assassination of the First Lady when he killed a suicide bomber; however, the second bomber in the school detonated their bomb, killing his daughter along with several other pupils. Rafe was held responsible for the carnage and is experiencing survivor's remorse. Someone is killing people in a similar way to how presidents in history have been killed, or an attempt is made. Rafe uses some of his skills from the Secret Service to connect the seemingly unrelated deaths that occur across the country. Rafe embarks on a journey during which he is pursued by domestic terrorists, abducted, and subjected to torture by a murderer who wishes to destroy what remains of Rafe's life.

With plenty of action and a sharp psychological twist, Shadow State is an intriguing thriller. Frank Sennett created a gripping plot, and I was hooked by it from the start until the end. It was a rollercoaster ride with female heroes, romantic interests, and murder. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what to expect next. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and I could not put it down. The events were descriptive and easy to visualize. The characters were authentic and relatable. Rafe is ex-military and gave up too much in doing his job. He has a unique set of skills and is persistent in tracking down the domestic terrorists. The story was well-written and researched. It exceeded my expectations by far.
