Fans of Donita K. Paul will be thrilled with her new series, The Dragons of Chiril. This series is the prequel to The Dragonkeeper Chronicles. Our tale begins by introducing us to Tipper. Tipper runs the household, her father disappeared fifteen years earlier. She thinks her mother may be a bit daft, the woman insists she has been talking to her husband, Verrin Schope. To support the family while her father was gone, Tipper sold much of his art work including 3 statues. The statues are very important and must be retrieved or the world will be destroyed. Unknowingly Tipper opened a gate between to realms and her father is trapped inside. After her father appeared to her he told her about his God, Wulder, a compassionate, caring and loving God. With the help of several others, Tipper began a mission to save her father and the whole world.

This book made me smile. The author wisely included a map and glossary to assist readers in their journey with Tipper. Tipper is a delightful character, well developed and likable. Donita Paul has successfully created a character that was strong and yet vulnerable. I also enjoy Lady Peg. There are many important characters in this book but I won’t list them all here. I truly enjoyed the first series and look forward to reading and reviewing all the books in the new series. While this book is suitable for fourth graders, adults will enjoy it too. I do want to mention, this book was previously released under a different title.
