What do you do when the woman you love tells you, on your wedding day, that she is still in love with her ex and can’t marry you? Why, you head to the local watering hole and get stinking drunk, that’s what! And that is exactly what brokenhearted surgeon Lyle does on his wedding day that wasn’t in The Groom by Elise Marion. It is there that Lyle first lays eyes on the beautiful siren Katrina, who it turns out has her own set of problems in the form of a domineering father on the wrong side of the law. Before officially meeting there is a connection between Lyle and Katrina but whether it is attraction, mutual pain, or something deeper is unclear in the beginning.

When Katrina is attacked in an alley after a performance, Lyle comes to her rescue and it is the start of a beautiful friendship and an attraction that neither expected. Unfortunately, there are some things Lyle doesn’t know about Katrina, such as her father is a Mafia boss with a rival family after him and his family. When Lyle finds out, he doesn’t cut and run as she expects him to. His growing love for the woman who has brought laughter and sunshine into his life makes his instinct to protect her stronger than his urge to protect himself. The Groom is a tale of unlikely love between two different people. Elise Marion tells the story beautifully of a former Mafia princess and an uptight surgeon who find their lives are much better together than they ever were apart. Both Lyle and Katrina step out of their comfort zones in the name of love and The Groom is a much better story because of it.
