Tilly the Turtle is a children’s preschool story by Isabel Scheck. Tilly the Turtle enjoys spending time with her mother. She gets to explore the deep blue sea and see many beautiful things. One day, while swimming together, Tilly stopped to admire a shiny shell, but when she looked around, her mother was not there. She called out for her mother but didn’t get a response. Tilly asked Sharky the Shark if he had seen her mother, but he hadn’t. Angie the Angelfish didn’t know either. Sophie the Stingray wanted to help and gave Tilly a ride on her back around the sea. Tilly even fell asleep when she became tired. They asked their other friends, including Jimmy the Jellyfish and Suzy the Seahorse, if they had seen Tilly’s mother. They hadn’t, and Tilly was now anxious to be reunited with her mother.

How would you feel if you couldn’t find your mother? Would you react the same way as Tilly the Turtle? This adorable preschool story by Isabel Scheck shows how lost Tilly was without her mother, but she had very good friends to rely on to assist in the search to locate her mother. They were helpful, and it shows how important it is to make friends. All the sea creatures were caring and willing to help. I loved the beautiful underwater sketches and catchy names of the sea creatures. This short and lovely story is appropriate for preschoolers who will like it a lot.
