Welcome, Reluctant Stranger by Evy Journey is book 3 in the Between Two Worlds series, a captivating story centered on a young girl’s growth, her coming to terms with the harsh reality of separation, and what happens when she falls passionately in love. Leilani is too young to understand anything when her mother takes her away from her country and sets off for the US. She couldn’t understand why they have to leave so suddenly and why their father doesn't come with them. Now two decades later, she discovers the secret that has been kept from her over the years and why her father was left behind. Can she accept her past and create a place in her heart for forgiveness?
Evy Journey’s characters are memorable and well developed. The protagonist, Leilani, is a gifted healer, intelligent and beautiful, and it is interesting to watch how she handles conflicts. Justin is a computer nerd, funny, and easy-going, but he hasn't fully recovered from the breakup of a seven-year relationship. When Leilani rescues him from a difficult situation, they become attracted to each other. The romance that develops between the two adds powerful spice to a story that is already intriguingly beautiful. Welcome, Reluctant Stranger is well-written, with vivid descriptions that allow readers to get powerful images of the setting and to understand the psychological conflict taking place within the protagonist. The dialogue is crisply written and plot driven. Journey knows how to create characters that readers will love and a plot that makes them turn the pages with anticipation.
