If you are looking for a book that offers the straight scoop about leaving the office behind and living and working via a recreational camper, look no further. Kristine Hudson’s It’s Not As Easy As I Thought! Revelations About Working and Wellness From a Real Wanderer gives an honest look at the perils and pleasures of life on the road. By using her personal experiences and insights, Hudson also presents a thorough examination of how working from a van or skoolie (a converted school bus or tiny home) may provide her readers with a way to achieve freedom from the 9-5 grind. In addition, she poses thoughtful questions that these readers might ask themselves and offers advice about staying healthy when traveling, as well as listing websites that they may consult for more information.

What I appreciated the most about It’s Not As Easy As I Thought! is the author’s chatty style. Kristine Hudson sounds as though she is a friend with an especially good self-deprecating sense of humor advising her besties. This style, coupled with her willingness to divulge some of the problems associated with working from a van, or skoolie, adds to the authenticity of Hudson’s voice. She is not writing the book to convince you to become a wanderer but instead to prepare you for the very real challenges wandering might pose. Still, her enthusiasm is contagious. In truth, I often found myself wanting to take to the road with my husband in our RV to travel America as I read. I suspect you will too.
