The Perpetual Paycheck: 5 (More) Secrets to Getting a Job, Keeping a Job, and Earning Income for Life in the Loyalty-Free Workplace by Lori B. Rassas is the third book in the author's Perpetual Paycheck series. In Rassas' newest guide, she expands on the concept of a work environment that's devoid of loyalty by both the employer and the employee, and sets readers further down the path toward making that current, inevitable status in the workplace beneficial. The book starts at chapter six, with the first volume being its launching pad. That said, readers who haven't read book one won't find themselves confused. The chapters cover everything from how to get a foot in the door to building a team, through to having an emergency plan and securing additional income sources to knowing when and how to break free from your current job.

The Perpetual Paycheck by Lori B. Rassas is unlike any other book I've read in this genre. Rassas uses her years of experience as an attorney in a niche law field to show readers the realities of what working today truly entails. There is no holding back when it comes to clarifying what you will and won't be to your employer (and visa versa) and where you fit in within the corporate landscape. This is delivered in a straightforward and succinct narrative, similar to sitting down and having a solid conversation with a friend in the know. My favorite part (aside from the book being dedicated to her dog, which is fantastic) was the section on financial safety nets, and a quote that reads: “There is no point at which you can say, ‘Well, I am successful now. I might as well take a nap.’” If you're looking for a book that addresses the working world of today, this is it.
